Day 94 -- Strong Women
On my way to Haskell today, I stopped in to visit with Aunt Peggy and see how she was holding up after Uncle David's passing. I found her being her strong self and thinking of others and dealing with some of the many many issues she will have to face without her husband of 68 years. Women such as Aunt Peggy, my mother, my grandmothers have always made such an impression on me as being strong beyond belief in the face of adversity. As a senior citizen myself these days, I have come to realize the strength they have shown during earlier times in my life when I didn't even realize how hard things were going for them. My prayer and hope is that as I face more and more life-changing issues whether it is through the loss of family and friends, sickness, or simply aging, that I will be able to handle it as courageously and strongly as the older women in my family. Seeing mother dealing with my dad in his diminished capacity and Aunt Peggy lose her spouse and handle it in such a strong fashion makes me ever more thankful to have them in my lives.
