Day 106 -- An Example Not to Follow
I shared early on that my daughter Mandi turned me on to this 365 new things year that I'm trying to do. Some days are just hard to drum up something new, but I rack my brain every evening trying to come up with something. Well, as Mandi turned 40, she took on this task as well and it seems that on day 5 she was having a hard time thinking up something so did a crazy stunt that has resulted in injury and doctor visits. Once again the child has become the teacher of the parent. If my robustly healthy daughter can injure herself by something so simple, my 65-year-old self better be careful every time I think of doing something physically challenging! My trainer told me when I first started with her that we peak on our balance abilities in our 20s and then without constant attention to keeping that balance tuned up, we start a downward spiral as we age. She has me do balance exercises most every time I go to her so hopefully I won't take a spill and hurt myself. I hate so much that Mandi has been hurt, but I am taking this as a lesson for myself that a split second can change everything and trying to be more mindful of what I do. I won't quit doing physically challenging things, but I will certainly pay closer attention to what I'm doing! Get well soon my sweet girl!

Thank you! Glad I can at least serve as an example for others. Another friend told me she was making a list for her 40th year, which is coming up, and made a note to definitely not try ripsticking! 😀
