Today I lost my Uncle David. He was a fine Christian man who was ready to meet his Savior, and for that I am thankful. As a child, I never knew quite how to take him--he sometimes seemed unapproachable and other times a tease. As I grew into teenage years, I recognized his dry sense of humor better and enjoyed the back and forth with him. I always knew I was welcome at his home. I had so many fun days in New Braunfels at their house. He could be a jokester and he could be a loner. He would sit in his chair and read a lot, but he was always a kind and sweet guy with a ready smile or laugh. I will miss him although I didn't see him often. It's just knowing Uncle David should follow Aunt Peggy when I say it--and now he won't.
Another first today was a rainy, 77 degree August 2--since when is that supposed to happen in Texas. We have been blessed with sporadic rain all through the summer this year and for that I am thankful.
