Ruth and I have had 3 wonderful days alone doing girly things, and that has been so special to me. BUT today, we must make room for THE BOYS! I haven't seen the Watts boys since May either so am very excited that they are coming over for the day. They have been at Camp Meeting and with their other grandparents who are dropping them off here so their parents can pick up all the kids on their way home from the Austin airport later.
The boys showed up about 10:00 in the care of Maxie and Sharon who dropped them off--on their way to Ft. Davis and Pecos (go figure!) Enjoyed a nice visit with them before they had to head off in search of lost treasure and a birthday party. The boys were quick with their hugs and kisses and off to play with whatever they could find at Nana's--the dogs, the toys, the bikes, the games etc. Papa was working but called and asked us to meet him at the new barbecue place called Miller's in Belton so we loaded up and Ruth drove us downtown. This was my first time to be there, and I was shocked to see how long the line was to even order your food. The crowd was crazy so I went to save a table for six and was immediately told I couldn't do that until I had a number which I would get when the food was ordered. So we stood in line for about 40 minutes before we got to order--great fun with fidgety hungry boys! We did get to order and sit down and the anticipation was great as to what the food would be like having seen the crowd in attendance for lunch and the long wait to order. The only thing I can say is that it was not worth the wait--well, maybe the turtle cheesecake that Ruth and I shared but certainly not the barbecue, the crowd or the noise level. Don't have to do that again!
While we were in there eating, another interesting thing happened. A friend of ours through TAR who lives in Abilene came up to our table to say hi--he was in Belton for a wedding--and it was his birthday. Strange coincidences happen like that all the time to us as we have been lucky enough to meet so many people in Texas through our TAR affiliation.
