I told Ruth that I would be happy to take her to see any of her friends in Marble Falls while she was staying with me because she can't get there very often. So she contacted a friend and made a lunch date for today, and also contacted her former equestrian coach from there and made a date to drop by the barn to see her while we were there.
We took off about 10:30 and for the first time I had a driver--my sweet Ruth! It was a great pleasure for me to have her driving me to Marble Falls. She is a very careful and attentive driver--not too cautious that we might get run over by someone, and not to careless as to run over someone herself! It was a smooth ride over to Marble Falls and I dropped her off at the coffee/cafe place she was to meet her friend and I went off to find my own lunch so they could have some quality time together as girlfriends. When they were done, Ruth texted me, and I picked her up and we went shopping while waiting for the time for when she was supposed to meet her riding coach at the barn. We found some bargains we couldn't live without, and when the time approached, we headed out to the country. She visited with her coaches and some of the riders she had known before moving for about an hour, and then she took over the wheel again and drove me home.
What a great day of talking, laughing and watching my nearly grown granddaughter handle herself like an adult. I am so proud of her. We got to talk about all kinds of things concerning her education and trying for the Air Force Academy, and I am convinced that if she wants it bad enough, she will get in.
