Day 92 -- Bitter Disappointment

As you all know, Bill has a debilitating chronic disease which is slowing crippling him and causing him much pain.  The last time he went to the doctor, the doctor said most people would be in a wheelchair by now in his shape.  The current treatment for pain is a spinal injection every 3 months.  He had his last one 3 months ago and it didn't work so he has been in severe pain yet going on with his busy schedule day in and day out and even trying to have a vacation which was also painful to him.  Today was the day for his next injection so we got up bright and early and got to the pain clinic about 8:00.  They called him in at nearly 9:00 and in just a short while he was out and I could tell something was wrong.  They informed him that they were supposed to see him two weeks before the injection per our new Humana insurance to do a consultation and since they had failed to do that, they could not give him an injection for two more weeks and would do the little 5 minute consult then.  He was angry and upset, and when I learned of it I was too.  Again, referring back to us taking better charge of dad's health, Bill and I have decided we must do the same with his.  He is now researching a type of laser surgery that is done in Dallas, Houston and Oklahoma City for issues that may be what he has.  He is going to try to get a consultation--probably in Dallas--to see if he would be a candidate.  I am encouraging that he do this because he is young in mind and spirit and I can't stand to see him be an invalid when he still has so much to offer this world.  I'm asking for prayers from all of you that something will come of this laser issue and we can find relief for him.  I am feeling younger than I did 10 years ago thanks to starting to take care of my health better and I want to be able to enjoy many more years with him doing the things we enjoy.

  1. That stinks, but I'm so glad he is taking matters into his own hands! I hope he can get something worked out with the laser surgery. And, of course, we'll take good care of you if you end up in Dallas for that.
