Day 72 -- Legal System Frustrations

Today I had a hearing concerning two of my CASA children and where they might be placed.  This has been a long anticipated day working with grandparents in Maryland, trying to get the parents up to speed in their own lives, and I have held it sacred that I must be there, so when I was looking at places to go on vacation, if it touched July 11, it was out of the picture.

Got to court at 8:30 and by 8:55, the case had been postponed until July 25--a day in the week of Nana Camp for Tyler and me.  I was furious.  The postponement happened because two therapists who get paid by the state to talk to the parents who are in CPS cases, couldn't get their reports in by the deadline of the hearing.  Now, CASA and CPS were able to get theirs in, and we see the kids and foster parents or talk with them every week, type up notes, make phone calls, do in person visits, and do a court report by a deadline of 10 days before the hearing.  And yet, these therapists can throw a wrench in the whole thing because they can't get their notes typed up.  I think they should be held in contempt of court--and if I ever become a judge, I will do just that!
