Day 70 -- Nonagenarian

Today we had a birthday party/dinner for Bill's dad who will be 90 tomorrow.  He was surprised when he saw that we were cooking dinner and had invited over his old buddy Andy and his wife Pat as well as our friends Avis and Harry, whom he had not met--which meant he had new ears for all his stories!  He also enjoyed "shopping" for books to read in all my collection of books--I think he took about 10 home with him and got 3 for gifts!  That should hold him maybe a month!  Bill cooked a delicious steak dinner with his signature potatoes and green beans and his chocolate pot a creme' for dessert.

I reflected that I had participated in two birthdays for nonagenarians (90+ year olds) and what a blessing it is to still have both of our dads alive at this advanced age.  He was very touched by the gathering and the little gifts and cards.  Living alone is a lonely business, and he is always thrilled when anyone comes by to see him.  I think that is why he was giving his money away to strangers--just so they would come back and see him again and again.

I think enjoyed being the center of attention!
