This morning Bill was up getting ready for work, and I had just gotten up when he called in a loud "stage" whisper--come in here and be quiet! So I tip-toed into the bathroom and on a limb in our backyard where we could see it from the vanity window was the biggest owl I have ever seen--and the only one I have seen in our yard. He (she?) was hunting for breakfast evidently--sat there swiveling that beautiful head all the way around scanning the yard for something. The dogs were in the house so we knew it couldn't swoop away with Holly (Lucy could never be picked up!). It never moved anything but its head and finally saw whatever it was after, swooped down and was gone. Great way to wake up in the morning to a beautiful display of nature!
