Day 2--Prefab Table Assembly
Last night I was already worrying about what I could do on day 2 as a "first". This is going to be a crazy year! My sweet yet sarcastic husband suggested that I could get up at 6 a.m. and that would surely be a first--not true as I got up at that time for 29 years of teaching school and do not intend to do it again unless an airplane is waiting for me at some airport! I went to the office still wondering what on earth I could do today for a first, and low and behold, when I got there the FedEx truck had just delivered a table that I had ordered from Amazon to use as a small conference table in one of our rooms at the office. I decided on the spot that this would be my first for today--have never put together a table that obviously was in many pieces as it came in two boxes from Amazon. So I started opening boxes and getting out parts and sat down on the floor (wish I had gotten one of our girls to take a picture of that but they were busy actually working) with the instructions and began to puzzle my way through them. I have assisted Bill many times in putting things together, but he was the engineer and I was the necessary evil assisting by handing him parts, screws, etc. Today it was my project, my time to prove I had it in me to read simple instructions translated from Malaysian to English! In a little less than two hours, I had this bad boy put together with a little help from our handyman who came in and had a drill equipped with a Phillips screwdriver head to supplement my manual labor Phillips screwdriver which I couldn't quite put enough pressure on to get the screws flush. Final result, a really nice table for our new small conference room. The chairs had come in last week, so they were already put together by someone else--but as a first, I put a table together that doesn't wobble or anything!
Way to go! I'm so proud of you! The table looks great, too!
