Day 5--Temple Children's Museum fundraising kickoff event

Some very forward-thinking young mothers have come together in our community with a dream to have a children's museum here in Temple, Texas.  Knowing that fundraising would be involved for some time before they could have a building in which to house the museum, they creatively came up with a "traveling mobile children's museum" that will have some portable exhibits for children to enjoy and learn from while the group is doing this fundraising time to get an actual building in which to house the museum.  I was thankful to get an invitation to their "100 Women" fundraiser where 100 women were invited to come to a wine/food pairing event for $100--goal obviously $10,000.  It was such a lovely event with the wine paired with beautiful finger foods made by some of the young women, a silent auction, a wine pull, a jazz combo and a demonstration of one of their portable items which they have already taken to a number of events.  I'm sure they exceeded their $10,000,  and they had a silent partner who promised to match up to $15K of what was made at this event tonight.  The four founders of the museum project gave a brief overview of their goals, and it was so heartwarming to feel the excitement and energy in the room as these young women set about to see this thing through.  Even after they have a brick and mortar building, they intend to continue the mobile version of the museum to show up at various events throughout the area where children can learn and be entertained.  So here's my toast to the young mothers and us grandmotherly types who are working hard to bring something new and exciting to the children of our community.  Thanks for letting me be a part of this new first in our area!
