Day 1--Becoming a blogger

Last week, I reached a milestone in my life--I turned 65.  I don't feel 65 in my mind and wonder if I look and act 65 as perceived by others.  And what does 65 look, feel and seem like anyway?  I spent this weekend with my oldest daughter who suggested I should read a book called I Dare Me by Lu Ann Cahn so I downloaded the audiobook and listened to it on my home from her house.  I was hooked.  The premise of the book is that life can get to be run-of-the mill, and we can become jaded by the day-to-day rhythms of our lives after a certain age.  So this Philadelphia TV personality rebooted her life by doing one new thing each day for a year through the encouragement of her daughter.  So to be clear--my idea is not original but my firsts will be, no doubt.  As I thought of my days and ways, I realized I have gotten into my own kinds of ruts and have snuggled into a comfort zone that is perhaps not in my best interest if I want to live life to the fullest for as long as I possibly can.  So, I consider today my first day of firsts, and I count setting up my first blog and posting my first post as my accomplishment for this first of 365 days.  I decided to publicly blog so that as others see it, I will feel that I am being held accountable for a "first" every day by those who read it, and because I hope others will give me suggestions for some things to put on this 365 day list of firsts.  My hope is that I will end up making this a habitual part of the rest of my life--not just this 65th year of it!
